520 3 _aThis book is about primordial prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). It is a comprehensive overview on developmental origins of health and disease regarding various factors related to the origins of NCDs from early life. It provides a summary of the impacts of various factors including epigenetics; gene-environment interaction; ethnic predisposition to NCDs and their risk factors; prenatal factors; fetal programming; maternal weight status; type of feeding during infancy; growth pattern during childhood; obesity; socioeconomic status; dietary and physical activity habits; as well as environmental factors for attenuating the development and progress of NCDs and their risk factors. We discuss about comprehensive interventions including modification for healthy lifestyle, regular physical activity, decrease screen time and behavioral interventions for management of childhood obesity. The present book is especially suitable for students, faculty members, researchers, and the entire health care system.
