University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Department of Psychology website, viewed Oct. 19, 2021: Directory of Faculty (Dr. Schutte received her Ph. D. from the University of Iowa and joined the faculty in 2004. Her research interests are in the area of cognitive development, with a particular focus on the development of spatial cognition. Her primary research program centers on the development of spatial working memory and executive function, and how environments, broadly defined, influence their development. Her research is based on a dynamic systems model of cognition, the Dynamic Field Theory, which is a computational model of spatial cognition that uses dynamic neural fields. She teaches courses in developmental psychology, cognitive development, child behavior and development, and dynamic systems theory.) https://psychology.unl.edu/anne-schutte

In general, she is interested in the role of experience in the development of spatial cognition. Her primary research program examines the development of spatial working memory in early childhood and what type of experiences influence its development. Although Schutte's research is behavioral, she is also interested in developmental changes in the neural underpinnings of spatial working memory. Therefore, her research is based on a neural network model of cognition, otherwise known as the dynamic field theory. Schutte received her master's in psychology from Concordia University in Illinois and her doctorate in developmental psychology from the University of Iowa. She joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004.) https://naecr.unl.edu/people/bios/schutte-anne.php
