Historically, there has been a dearth of leadership instruction specifically designed for surgeons early in their careers, including the resident and junior attending levels, as well as for senior surgeons. Utilizing over 40 years of personal experience, this book focuses on applying the modern teaching tenets of medical leadership, illustrating them with the author's engaging stories as a surgeon, medical director and department chair - both what did and what did not work.
